Data PUBLICATIONS

Freedom Collaborative provides its partners with survey tools that allow them to gather data on specific aspects of human trafficking worldwide. Our community of service providers and NGOs are experts in the day-to-day support of victims of human trafficking and vulnerable populations, and the collective data sets they produce provide us all with a better understanding of the realities and trends that relate to this complex issue.

The following reports offer breakdowns of selected data collections based on country or geographic area, and provide an insight into some of the most high-risk regions across the world. Containing information such as common cities of origin and destination, transit routes, and industries of exploitation, they represent the first step towards a comprehensive data and evidence-based overview of the global human trafficking situation, as witnessed by on-the-ground frontline organizations working directly with victims.

Expanding the Migration and Trafficking map with data from Laos

Migration is integral to life in Laos, as individuals seek opportunities or refuge, leading to significant internal and cross-border movements. Despite the prevalence of these journeys, limited data on human trafficking and exploitation in Laos has kept the country less visible on these critical issues compared to its Southeast Asian counterparts. This report, supported by Winrock International’s USAID Laos CTIP and USAID Asia CTIP programs, reflects the dedication of local non-governmental stakeholders, contributing expertise to advocate for stronger legislation, improved policies, and enhanced protection measures. It aims to build upon their insights, offering a comprehensive overview of migration in Laos and identifying emerging trends, including the rise of forced online scamming in Special Economic Zones.
