Client-centered approaches and social inclusion in CTIP programming

There have been many advances in the theory, ethics, and practice of case management and client services in recent years, the most impactful of which is arguably the shift to adopt more client-centered principles in CTIP work. Such approaches recognize that healing is best supported when those affected by trauma are empowered to make their own decisions about the services they receive and are treated as individuals with a unique set of experiences, responses and needs.

Each client’s vulnerabilities and requirements can be shaped by their social demographic or community background. Continued discourse around harm reduction strategies and rights-based trauma-informed approaches has led practitioners to further center social identity in order to support prevention, recovery, and/or healing more effectively. With this shift in mind, we wanted to provide an opportunity for the anti-trafficking community to examine this intersection of social identity and CTIP work.

This webinar is the first in a series that will explore the vulnerabilities faced by populations experiencing trafficking at disproportionate rates and how support can be tailored to better address identity-specific concerns, considerations, and recommendations. Our panel of experts discusses important client-centered principles, social identity and inclusion, and their perspectives on the successes and challenges in identity-informed practice.

During this webinar you’ll learn:

  • Best practices that have helped define and develop client-centered approaches;

  • Why social identity should be an important factor for CTIP programming and services;

  • How social inclusion considerations can inform all aspects of CTIP work; and

  • What common barriers and pitfalls continue to impede identity-informed practices.

We also address questions on exclusive policies and practices that can affect a client’s healing, and the metrics that can be used to measure and evaluate inclusiveness within an organization.
