New Opportunities to Combat Trafficking and Forced Labour in Global Supply Chains

In recent months, collective efforts by government agencies, NGOs, and the business and human rights communities have shone a spotlight on forced labour in global supply chains. In many industry sectors, organizations are working collaboratively to identify effective solutions and best practices that will protect workers from labour abuse. This increasingly global focus on exploitation practices in the supply, manufacture and transportation of goods, as well as recent enforcement actions, provides an opportunity for human rights advocates – this is an advantageous moment in which to hold corporations accountable for weak supply chain management.

As new legislation and public policy approaches that seek to eradicate this worker exploitation are gaining momentum, we want to provide an opportunity to learn the fundamentals and discuss recent efforts.

In this webinar, our panel of experts will discuss modern supply chain practices and their perspectives on ethical sourcing successes and challenges, as well as pragmatic policy enforcement.

During this webinar, you’ll learn:

  • How today’s modern supply chains are structured to maximize economic efficiency;

  • Why it isn’t easy for companies to identify and monitor the associated risks in their operations; and

  • How trade enforcement mechanisms, specifically the prohibition on imports made using forced labour, can be leveraged to clean up corporate supply chains.

We also address questions such as the difference between privacy and transparency, need for balance in supply chain legislation, and the potential of blockchain for supply chain due diligence efforts.
